Don t use abrasive cleaner or pads either because marble can be scratched. Water stains can be easily removed from marble. If you spilled anything oil based like a vinaigrette. Acidic and abrasive cleansers are a big no no for marble counters because they can scratch and stain the surface.

Mild soap and hot water will do just fine. Wipe sudsy water on the counter with a soft cloth or sponge. For most organic food stains the marble institute recommends cleaning with a solution of 12 hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia. But first you should remove any large crusty hard water build up using a plastic scraper to get the bulk of it off.

If not using marble cleaner mix a squirt of gentle non abrasive dish soap with warm water in a spray bottle and spray the counter generously. But while it is a durable material cleaning it can be a little tricky if you don t use the right products. You can either use regular marble cleaner or try removing the stain using grade 0000 steel wool. This will remove dirt but won t heal any etching or stains.

Repeat the process until completely clean. Scrub gently and wipe soapy solution off with a clean. Marble countertops can give a sleek elegant look to any kitchen or bathroom.
